In the footsteps of Thomas Hardy – Tours for your Group

Specialist Group Operator for Cornwall and Southern England

Thomas Hardy is one of the most famous novelists and poets in English Literary history, he set all his major works in the area of Wessex, which he based on the county of Dorset. It was in Dorset that he was born and spent most of his life, the landscape of this county remains much the same as it was in his time and visitors can experience what inspired him to write his novels.

A group tour of Hardy’s Dorset will take you through the towns and villages that inspired his novels and poems, the places where he lived, including the thatched cottage, ‘Hardy’s Cottage’ where he was born near Dorchester and wrote some of his early novels and also Max Gate the house which Thomas Hardy designed himself and where he wrote his most famous novels; Tess of the d’Urbervilles and Jude the Obscure.

Thomas Hardy is buried in Poets’ Corner, Westminster Abbey.

On a bespoke literature group tour in England you can visit the places where they lived, enjoy the landscapes, learn about and see what inspired these great writers and poets. We welcome the opportunity to customise your group’s tour to suit you or your client’s requirements. We are also very happy to research and design a completely new tour around a theme, so please do contact us with your ideas.
