Tresco is the second largest of the Isles of Scilly and a subtropical gem. It is the only one of the islands to be privately-owned; it is leased from the Duchy of Cornwall by the Dorrien-Smith family.
Tresco has something for all of the family, from dramatic rocks, Bronze Age burial sites and romantic castle ruins, to secluded sandy beaches and the world famous Tresco Abbey Garden which was established in the 1830s by Augustus Smith. This horticultural paradise hosts a spectacular collection of more than 20,000 exotic plants from all corners of the world, many of which cannot be grown anywhere else in Britain. The Valhalla collection in the Garden is equally impressive with its colourful display of ships figureheads salvaged from the islands’ shipwrecks.
The north of the island is wilder and more exposed, a great place to walk and explore. The southern part is almost all beach and sand dunes; here you will find the sugar-fine white sand of Pentle and Appletree Bays. In the centre of the island, where the Abbey Garden nestles, there are bird hides to seek out around Tresco’s freshwater pools. You can also hire bikes or a boat, windsurf or kayak from Tresco Sailing Club.
Accommodation on Tresco is luxurious and with its restaurants, pub, spa and art gallery there is a feel of sophistication about the island. We are the only specialist full service inbound tour operator for Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly catering for groups large and small, as well as luxury travel for individuals.
