Exciting news for Cornwall’s travel landscape! Skybus, part of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, has been awarded the Public Service Obligation (PSO) contract by Cornwall Council to operate the essential air link between Cornwall Airport Newquay and London Gatwick. This follows the collapse of Eastern Airways and ensures continued connectivity for our region. Tickets are on sale today, with the inaugural flight departing on Sunday 23 November 2025.
Starting with daily services, the route ramps up to twice-daily on weekdays from 14 February 2026.Skybus will fly a modern 70-seat ATR72 turboprop – a big upgrade from the smaller planes on their Scilly routes – offering comfort and efficiency for business and leisure travellers. Connect seamlessly to Gatwick’s global network for international adventures.
As Jonathan Hinkles, Managing Director of Skybus, puts it: “We are thrilled to launch this new service… It’s about creating opportunities – for businesses, for tourism, and for the local communities we serve.
