Located 28 miles (45km) from the coast of Cornwall the Isles of Scilly are the most South Westerly point of the UK. A stunning archipelago of islands with white sandy beaches, azure seas and subtropical gardens it really is one our most unique natural coastal environments.
Historically a destination little known overseas, in fact, even in the domestic market it’s been a niche destination for keen bird watchers, walkers or for those ‘in the know’. Changes in the holiday market, the demise of the main English summer seaside holiday and generally shorter stays now more popular among younger age groups means visitor number are still well below historic peaks. However, these changes open up many opportunities to bring the destination to a wider audience.
With connections to the islands stretching back 30 years we knew the potential appeal to sophisticated travellers looking for new experiences and unspoilt destinations. As an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB) where development is restricted, even in the height of summer, the islands never feel overcrowded. The standard of accommodation has also risen to feature some of the highest quality hotels and holiday rentals in the whole of Cornwall.
In 2012 we set out to bring this destination to overseas markets by engaging with the travel trade in a wide range of countries including USA, Holland, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Over recent years we have taken roadshows direct to these markets, attending trade shows, hosted Fam Trips and brought influential journalists to Scilly.
To date we have created brochured fly-drive products for Europe’s two largest travel companies, hosted German & Swiss walking groups, French photography groups, Austrian nature lovers, ‘slow travel’ groups from the States looking for an immersive experience in a destination and individual luxury holidays for high net worth individuals.
As the only full service destination management company (DMC) for the Isles of Scilly we’re able to provide travel agents and tour operators with all ground services. We are also experienced in incorporating the islands into wider itineraries across the rest of the UK and Ireland.
We continue to help the travel trade to discover the potential of the islands so hear more about our service and what we can do for your business please get in touch.
