US President Joe Biden touched down in Air Forse 1 at Cornwall Airport Newquay on at 11.45pm Wednesday 9th June ahead of the G7 summit in the county. The POTUS and First Lady were greeted by a guard of honour and the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Edward Bolitho on the runway along with members of the military and local officials.
The couple then got into a dark Chevrolet and left the airport at around 11.52pm, PA reports. They are expected to stay overnight in St Ives with the summit being held at the Carbis Bay Estate close by.
The meeting of world leaders, taking place between 11th-13th June, is a once in a lifetime opportunity to shine the global spotlight on Cornwall.
