The closest large airport to the Isles of Scilly is Newquay in Cornwall. You can fly to and from Newquay to Heathrow 4 times a day, with connections to the US on a code share with airlines such as Virgin Atlantic and hundreds of flights to Australia and other destinations around the world. The onward flight to the Isles of Scilly takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can fly by helicopter from Penzance or from Land’s End, which is only a 15 minute journey.
If you are planning to arrive from London by train, there is a direct line between London Paddington and Penzance, including an overnight sleeper service. Travel time is approximately five and a half hours. A transfer to the heliport is ten minutes or an 8 mile journey to Lands End. If you travelling to Cornwall by car there is also dedicated car parking close by.
In the summer, you can also fly from Exeter airport in Devon, where there are regular flights to many UK and European destinations. The flight to Scilly is just over 60 minutes.
All flights land on St Mary’s, the largest of the Isles of Scilly. From the airport you will be escorted to your accommodation or the quay for the short boat ride to Tresco, Bryher or St Martin’s. If you would prefer to arrive by sea, the Scillonian passenger ferry sails from Penzance to St. Mary’s from March until November.
